Marriage Therapist - Of Value?

Someone just asked me whether there was any point in going to see a marriage therapist or if the marriage would just fall apart. Here's part of my response: Before visiting a counselor, it is wise to ask whether the person’s focus is facilitating marriage building or facilitating divorces. Many counselor’s are trained to respond to people’s pain and relieve it rather than to help couples learn new marriage knowledge and skills. There is an excellent new resource that can assist couples (in the US) in choosing a counselor: http://www.marriagefriendlytherapists.com/. When you choose a counselor with a record of success, your marriage can be helped. Just remember to get help early when experiencing problems...don't wait until you are at the point of separation. Check out www.divorcebusting.com if you need help too. And if you need coaching, try our website (www.marriagetransformation.com) or www.prepare-enrich.com or www.smartmarriages.com. There are so many sources of help these days!
